Master’s program prepares students for higher education careers

In an effort to reach graduate students aiming to work on a smaller, 以信仰为基础的校园, the college recently added a post-secondary degree in higher education.

在大之外, 公立大学, options are limited for higher education master’s programs at private colleges in Georgia.

“We felt there was a need for this degree to be implemented here at LC,” said Dr. John Head, Vice President for Enrollment 和 Student Experience. 除了美世大学, we are the only other private institution where students can earn a graduate degree in higher education.”

The one-year degree will combine a strong academic foundation with real-world experience.

“This will give our cohort exposure to the business side of a college campus,” he said. “They’re not only going to learn about student development theory, 还有高等教育中的财政和法律问题. And as a Methodist institution, we also will focus on faith development.”

研究生 assistantships will benefit students pursuing this degree.

“They will receive compensation either through housing or a stipend,” he said. “Every student in the program will be placed in a department tailored to their interests, 所以他们在为自己的工作赚钱, 同时也获得了以职业为中心的技能.”

Cohorts who go through this program will be ready for a variety of roles in such areas as 住房, 学生生活, 招生, 就业服务和体育.
